Sbarro Seeks Bankruptcy Protection

Whether people are losing their appetite for pizza or simply don't have the money to buy it anymore, Sbarro pizza has been forced to file for bankruptcy this month. It joins fellow pizza providers Round Table Pizza and Uno Chicago Grill, both of which were forced to file for bankruptcy protection.
Pizza chains like Giordano's of Chicago have cited the deep recession as the leading cause of their decline. This has led to higher ingredient prices and increased competition from supermarkets and take-and-bake restaurants. Yet even though these popular pizza providers have all sought bankruptcy protection, America still loves pizza. The business accounted for $38 bill over the past three years.
According to Jeremy white of Pizza Today, "The pizza business is really pretty solid right now. You can feed a family of four for under $30 or even under $20."
