Rate of Foreclosure Falls in July
Great news for homeowners across the country: foreclosure rates have fallen to an all-time low in July, giving many people hope that there is an end in sight for the foreclosure epidemic.
Based on the figures collected by a company that watches fluctuations in the housing market, July saw 212,764 properties across the country receive foreclosure notices. While this number is not small, it does represent a decrease in filings, and is the lowest figure reported in 44 months. This includes scheduled auctions, default notices and bank repossessions, all of which declined when compared to July 2010.
Overall, the new statistics show a 39% decrease from the same month last year and a 6% decrease from the following month.
