Talking with Lenders About Foreclosure
Even though there has been a lot of negative press about lenders recently, you might be surprised to find that they are not unwilling to talk to you about your options. They are more willing to listen because it is actually in their best interest to help you make your payments since they make their money off of your interest and principle payments.
However, before you call your lender to make an arrangement, you should craft out a reasonable and honest plan to present to your lender that you can actually accomplish. Your lender will want to know how long you will need to make your reduced payments, if you want to have your payments suspended, or if you want to make reduced payments for a few months.
Whichever option you think will work best for you, both parties need to be clear on the agreement that is established.
