Consumers Can Finally Redeem Gift Cards from Sharper Image Post Bankruptcy

Even though Sharper Image stores across the country closed their doors a good three years ago, consumers who have old gift cards may finally be able to redeem them.

A class action attorney in Chicago has taken it upon himself to file suit against the former electronics company on behalf of those who still hold gift cards. Since Sharper Image went bankrupt three years ago, cardholders were unable to obtain any refunds after the bankruptcy filing as any remaining funds were diverted to creditors. Now, thanks to this one attorney's actions, gift card holders will receive something for their hardships.

One of the first people who will receive a cash payment is Rick Prohov, a Chicago man, whose father gave him the gift card just before he passed away in 2007. Prohov added his own comment about the payout, saying that his father, "always was someone who thought of right and wrong, and this was wrong."
