Newspaper Resorts to Layoffs Amidst Business Bankruptcy

It seems that no business is immune from the lagging economy, even an organization known for a lifetime of solid news reporting.

One well-known newspaper, under the Chapter 11 bankruptcy of its parent company, has been experiencing financial crunch recently. In a recent press release, the newspaper spoke about the layoffs it has been forced to enact, namely 20 more employees that lost their jobs this month. Staff members on the editorial, support and writing teams learned that they would not be needed back at work this week.

Commenting on the layoffs, the company asserts that it had to evaluate its staff and resources as well as its business organization needs. When asked about the specific individuals that were laid off, the company did not care to comment.
