Former Mayor Robert Pastrick Qualifies for Chapter 7
The former East Chicago Mayor Robert Pastrick received good news this week that his income is not too high to qualify for Chapter 7 bankruptcy.
A few months back the trustee overseeing his case believed there to be abuse in his bankruptcy case. Yet the trustee then issued a statement later that said, after reassessing the case material, Pastrick's filing was in accordance with the documents provided by his legal team.
This means that Pastrick can go ahead and file for Chapter 7 bankruptcy, which will not demand a repayment plan to his creditors. He was forced to file for bankruptcy last year when the state of Illinois attempted to collect more than $100 million from him for a civil judgment in which he was slapped with racketeering charges.
Although Pastrick has never been charged criminally for his actions, the state believes that he held a "sidewalks-for-votes" campaign before the 1999 Democratic mayoral primary election.
