General Motors Bankruptcy Coming to an End
The 21-month long Chapter 11 bankruptcy case filed by General Motors estate could be finally coming to an end this month. The bankruptcy judge overseeing their case has given a tentative approval to the liquidation plan submitted by their estate.
Also reported in the Daily Bankruptcy Review recently is the bid by grocery chain Great Atlantic & Tea Company for $6.8 million in bonuses. This plan has been snubbed by the unions, creditors and the U.S. Trustee's office, along with Meruelo Maddux Properties Inc. that is fighting for control of the company.
In related news DBR Small Cap, an affiliate of Och-Ziff Capital Management Group LLC, made a new bid for the InterContinental Hotel Chicago O'Hare, increasing its offer to $53 million. Until then the company's proposed auction continues to linger in an appeals court in Illinois.
