Borders Tries to Get Rid of Merchandise during Bankruptcy Proceedings

Everything is for sale at many Borders across the country as the country continues its bankruptcy proceedings.

Some locations, like those in Waukegan and Lake Cook Roads, is even advertising sale of bookshelves, paint and coffee filters to pay off debts. According to Mary Davis, a spokeswoman for Borders, "The stores have been handed over entirely to liquidators. We were told that they could close no later than the end of April." Davis goes on to say that although it is up to the liquidators when individual stores will close, if the merchandise is disposed of quickly then store closings could be faster than anticipated.

"Everything must go" signs now occupy at least 200 of the nation's chain store locations as the company charges full steam ahead in its Chapter 11 bankruptcy reorganization plan.

If your company is floundering and you are concerned about your continued financial success, contact a Chicago bankruptcy attorney immediately to start discussing your options.
