Non-Profit BEHIV Files for Chapter 7

Another non-profit agency has fallen victim to bankruptcy, this time in the heart of Chicago.

Better Existence with HIV is a Chicago-based organization that helps those with HIV and the AIDS virus . Yet as the economy has taken a toll on everyone, non-profits included, BEHIV realized that it too needed to file forChapter 7 bankruptcy.

When it was unable to pay a bill of $133, 615 to its creditors for the fifth year in a row, BEHIV knew that the time had come.  According to David Leibowitz, the attorney for the non-profit, "BEHIV and their officers and directors are very proud of the service that BEHIV has provided to the  community it has served over many years and regrets they did not have the funding to continue doing what it does."

BEHIV was hit especially hard.
